Chauffeured, road by road

Car Dubrovnik shows each ride as the road it takes: kilometres, driving time, any bridge, border or ferry, and the fare. To rent a car in Dubrovnik with a driver, choose a ride below and name your stops; the office prices them with the ride.

Standard car, up to four people, one way, VAT included; drive times exclude border queues; fares as of 12 October 2026

Car Dubrovnik is a chauffeured transfer service that shows each of its routes as a road: distance, driving time and any border, with the fare in four vehicle sizes. Its shortest ride is the 3.5 km hop from Gruž port to the Old Town, its longest the 272 km road to Sarajevo, and anyone wanting to rent a car in Dubrovnik with a driver can also book by the hour. TECHNIC ONE d.o.o. operates it.

## Rent a car in Dubrovnik with a driver, and tolls and ferries come with the fare

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#car-and-driver>

The fare, itemised

What a traveller would otherwise sort out comes with a Car Dubrovnik fare: motorway tolls, any ferry, fuel, luggage, VAT, child seats and waiting at a border. Each fare pays for a vehicle and its driver, €50 from DBV into town in a standard car; a longer route or another vehicle is re-priced and agreed first.

  ![View from the back seats of a Mercedes-Benz V-Class, the model named for Car Dubrovnik's premium minivan, with the driver at the wheel and the road ahead](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/car-with-driver-view-from-back-seats.jpg)

On a Split ride, Car Dubrovnik pays motorway A1 tolls; heading for Kotor, a Kamenari ferry is paid too whenever your driver takes it; at Karasovići or Metković, time spent in a queue costs nothing extra.

Waiting is part of every route fare: 60 minutes after a flight actually lands, 15 minutes at other pick-ups. Hourly hire is priced apart, from €50 an hour, on the terms set out under [day hire](https://cardubrovnik.com/#driver-hire).

### Where each kind of ride is covered

- ### The long roads and their crossings

    [Split](https://cardubrovnik.com/#split-by-car) stays in Croatia; [Kotor](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car) and [Mostar](https://cardubrovnik.com/#mostar-by-car) each cross one border.

-   ### [Four vehicle sizes](https://cardubrovnik.com/#fleet)

    Cases first, then seats: up to eight people in one vehicle.

## Every fare, by distance, in four vehicle sizes

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#pricing>

All roads, one table

As of 12 October 2026, standard-car fares run from €25 for Gruž port to the Old Town up to €400 for Sarajevo, each for the whole vehicle with VAT, tolls and any ferry; three larger sizes cost more. Distance alone does not set a fare: Kotor, 92 km away, costs €255; Mostar, at 146 km, €240.

Each row gives road distance and usual driving time beside four fares in euros, one way, VAT in; a return costs twice its one-way fare.

Dubrovnik to Montenegro: every fare under “Across at Karasovići” crosses that border post; Herceg Novi, at 49 km, is nearest, [Kotor](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car) and Budva, at 92 km, furthest.

## Dubrovnik Airport transfer into town: 22 km, about half an hour, longer in summer

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#airport-arrival>

The airport run

A Car Dubrovnik airport transfer from Čilipi normally reaches town in 30–35 minutes over 22 km; DBV’s own estimate for summer is up to an hour. Guests of hotels outside the traffic zone step out at their entrance, Old Town guests where cars must halt, outside its walls. Drivers meet flights in Building B; a standard car costs €50.

  ![Dubrovnik Airport's control tower at Čilipi, its glass cab above an octagonal deck, hills hazy behind](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/dubrovnik-airport-control-tower.jpg)

### Where each ride from DBV ends

Lapad and Babin Kuk hotels lie 25 km out, 35–40 minutes on a normal day, for €50 in a standard car; Gruž port, 22 km, costs €50. Closer to arrivals, Cavtat is only 6 km away (€35) and Mlini, Srebreno or Plat 10 km (€35). A hotel inside that camera zone around the walls gets no door promise either: as with Old Town rooms, the office names a stop outside the walls ([what that zone means](https://cardubrovnik.com/#old-town-by-car)). [DBV’s own travel page](https://www.dbv.hr/en/getting-to-dbv/54) gives 22.5 km to town and that summer hour.

### Plane to car

1. **Passports and EES.** On flights from beyond Schengen, most non-EU travellers register with EES, Europe’s [Entry/Exit System](https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen/smart-borders/entry-exit-system_en), in full use since 10 April 2026: four fingerprints plus a photo on a first arrival, none from under-12s, no fee. DBV installed kiosks for it.
2. **Bags, or a missing case.** If a case fails to appear, message the driver while reporting it.
3. **Building B.** Arrivals come out through [terminal building B](https://www.dbv.hr/en/technical-data/74), where a sign bearing your name marks out the driver, who walks you to a waiting car.

### Delays and lost bags

Add a flight number when booking. Drivers follow real touchdown times, so a late plane costs nothing, and 60 minutes of waiting start only then; passport queues and luggage belts fall within them. Held up longer by EES, a long queue or a missing case? Message the driver; the office sorts out anything beyond. A cancelled flight moves the ride to a new arrival time, or cancels it free of charge. Booked rides run at any hour, late-night flights included.

### Bulky luggage

Mention every suitcase and cabin bag, plus any pushchair, bike, golf bag or wheelchair: each vehicle carries only what fits safely. A standard car holds 3 suitcases plus 3 cabin bags, a business car 2 plus 2, a minivan 8 of each ([all sizes](https://cardubrovnik.com/#fleet)).

[Platanus](https://platanus.hr/dubrovnik-airport-shuttle/) shuttle buses depart about half an hour after each arriving flight, for Ploče Gate, then Gruž bus station, at €10 a seat; taxis queue in front of Building B ([shuttle, app and taxi prices](https://cardubrovnik.com/#taxi-apps)).

Put the flight number in your message; waiting starts at touchdown.

## Dubrovnik to Split by car: 235 km, the bridge and €330

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#split-by-car>

3¼–3¾ hours

Dubrovnik to Split: 235 km and 3¼–3¾ hours by car, over Pelješac Bridge and then on A1 toll motorway from Karamatići, never leaving Croatia. As a private transfer with a Car Dubrovnik driver, a standard car for up to four costs €330, tolls included, or €420 for a minivan seating five to eight.

  ![Overhead signs to Split and Zagreb on the A1 at the Vrgorac junction, the toll motorway Car Dubrovnik drivers take north](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/a1-vrgorac-junction-split-signs.jpg)

1. **Old Town** (Pile Gate · north on the D8)
2.  **Ston**  (55 km · 1–1¼ h · short turn-off)
3. **Pelješac Bridge** (About 84 km · 2.4 km long)
4. **A1 at Karamatići, near Ploče** (Toll road · some 104 km of A1 from here)
5.  **Split**  (235 km · 3¼–3¾ h · never leaves Croatia)

### Shore, bridge, motorway

D8 hugs the shore for some 84 km, as far as Pelješac Bridge: 2.4 km long, toll-free, [open since 26 July 2022](https://hrvatske-ceste.hr/uploads/documents/attachment_file/file/1782/Monografija_Peljes%CC%8Cki_Most_i_ljudi_2022.pdf). Link D425 then climbs to Karamatići near Ploče, where roughly 104 km of A1 begin; its tolls are part of your fare. D1 drops from Dugopolje into town. Neum’s older D8 stretch, which crosses Bosnia and Herzegovina between Klek and Zaton Doli, stays off this route, so passports stay packed.

No official source gives a summer driving time for this trip; [HAK’s live report](https://www.hak.hr/info/stanje-na-cestama?lang=en) shows conditions and delays on your day.

### Ston, Makarska and other stops

Ston’s walls, begun in 1333, sit beside a bypass, so a stop there adds only a short turn-off. Makarska lies on D8 rather than A1: staying on D8 through it and Omiš cuts distance to about 226 km yet stretches driving to nearly 4 h 50 min, so that variant is priced and agreed first. Riding only that far costs €250. Name each stop when you ask; the Car Dubrovnik office prices it with your ride.

### Where your ride ends

Split’s waterfront lies 235 km from Pile Gate. SPU, its airport, is 247 km and 3½–4 hours away, with its own fare row: €330. Up to four travellers with three large cases fit a standard car; groups of five to eight take a minivan, one case each. No railway joins the two cities; [FlixBus](https://global.flixbus.com/bus-routes/bus-dubrovnik-split) seats start at €15.48 (14 October 2026), about four hours between bus stations.

Ferry, hotel or Split Airport: tell the office where your Split ride ends. Riding the other way? Those rides are not on this price list yet: ask the Car Dubrovnik office.

## Dubrovnik to Kotor round the bay, €255: the papers each passport needs

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car>

2–2¼ hours plus border time

Dubrovnik to Kotor crosses one border into Montenegro, Karasovići then Debeli Brijeg. EU ID cards allow 30 days there, passports 90; UK and US passports give 90 days if issued within ten years and valid three months past departure. The bay road is 92 km, 2–2¼ hours; a Car Dubrovnik private transfer costs €255 in a standard car.

  ![Cars on the road outside Kotor's town walls by the South Gate, the end of the drive from Dubrovnik to Kotor](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/kotor-south-gate-walls-road.jpg)

Those stay limits are Montenegro’s own, listed on its [government visa page](https://www.gov.me/en/article/visas). Karasovići, roughly 40 km out past DBV, is Croatia’s only permanent road crossing into Montenegro for goods as well as passengers.

1. **Old Town** (Pile Gate · south past DBV)
2. **Karasovići, then Debeli Brijeg** (One border · around 40 km, under an hour)
3.  **Herceg Novi**  (49 km · 1–1¼ h)
4.  **Risan**  (Some 74 km · 1¾ h)
5.  **Perast**  (Some 78 km · 1 h 50 min)
6.  **Kotor**  (92 km · 2–2¼ h without border time)

### Fingerprints at Croatia’s border

Most non-EU travellers leave a record in EES, Europe’s Entry/Exit System, each time they cross: once heading out at Karasovići, once coming back. Anyone who flew in already has a file; anyone without one steps out on return to give four fingerprints plus a photo. EU citizens are exempt, under-12s give no fingerprints, and EES has run in full since 10 April 2026 ([European Commission](https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen/smart-borders/entry-exit-system_en)).

ETIAS, an EU travel authorisation for visitors who need no visa, was taking no applications on 14 October 2026 and had no start date. Once it runs, those visitors will need one to re-enter Croatia, at €20, some exempt ([EU ETIAS page](https://travel-europe.europa.eu/en/etias)).

### Round the bay to Kotor’s Sea Gate

Herceg Novi comes first past Debeli Brijeg. Beyond it, a shore road follows an inner bay round Risan and Perast before reaching Kotor’s Sea Gate. UNESCO has listed that old town and its bay as World Heritage since 1979.

A shortcut skips that inner loop: a ferry from Kamenari to Lepetane across Verige strait, which brings Kotor down to about 80 km. Boats leave at 20-minute intervals between 06:00 and midnight, at least one an hour overnight ([ferry timetable](https://trajekt.me/en/timetable/)). Your driver weighs Kamenari’s queue against driving round, and any crossing comes with your fare; visiting Perast means going round.

### Further into Montenegro: Herceg Novi to Budva, priced

Standard-car fares nearby: Tivat Airport (TIV), 73 km using a Kamenari ferry, €255; Budva €275. Riding only to Herceg Novi costs €180. Groups of five to eight pay €335 to Kotor in a minivan.

Spending a day in Kotor and riding back? Book two rides, both legs together costing twice its one-way fare, or keep the car and driver by the hour while you visit ([day hire](https://cardubrovnik.com/#driver-hire)); the office sets your pick-up time either way.

Montenegro starts at Karasovići: keep each passenger's papers to hand.

[Check a fare](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pricing) [Plan a ride on WhatsApp](https://wa.me/385916001201?text=Hello%2C%20I%27d%20like%20a%20ride%20to%20Kotor.%20Date%2C%20pick-up%20time%20and%20passengers%3A)

## Dubrovnik to Mostar up the Neretva: Metković, Počitelj, €240

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#mostar-by-car>

2½–2¾ hours plus border time

Dubrovnik to Mostar is 146 km, 2½–2¾ hours plus any border queue: over the Pelješac Bridge to the Metković–Doljani crossing into Bosnia and Herzegovina, open 24 hours, then up the Neretva valley past Počitelj. EU citizens may cross on an ID card; UK visitors need a passport. A Car Dubrovnik private transfer costs €240 in a standard car.

  ![The white tekke of Blagaj beside the Buna spring at the foot of a sheer cliff near Mostar](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/blagaj-tekke-buna-spring.jpg)

D8 carries you some 84 km north-west to Pelješac Bridge; D9 then turns inland to Metković. Doljani, its Bosnian counterpart, handles passenger traffic only. Past it, M-17 climbs the Neretva valley all the way to Mostar. Online route planners sometimes draw a shorter line through crossings kept for border-area residents; your driver stays on Metković–Doljani.

1. **Old Town** (Pile Gate · north on the D8)
2. **Pelješac Bridge** (About 84 km)
3. **Metković, then Doljani** (One border · open 0–24 h)
4.  **Počitelj**  (117 km · about 2 h)
5.  **Blagaj**  (142 km · about 2½ h)
6.  **Mostar, Stari Most**  (146 km · 2½–2¾ h without border time)

### Počitelj, Blagaj, Kravica

Počitelj lies right beside M-17; Blagaj, 142 km out, sits a short turn off it. Kravica’s waterfalls, near Ljubuški, need another crossing, Prud: some 123 km and 2 h 20 min from Pile Gate. Kravica has no row on our fare list, so Car Dubrovnik prices it on request.

### ID card or passport at Doljani

EU and Schengen citizens may enter with either document and stay 90 days in any six months, according to [Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Service for Foreigners’ Affairs](https://sps.gov.ba/informacije-za-strance/ulazak-stranaca-u-bih/). UK citizens need a passport valid 90 days beyond departure and get those same 90 days. We could not confirm a rule for US passport holders at an official source, so check it before setting off. Non-EU travellers also get an EES record at Croatia’s post, out and back ([how EES works](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car)).

### Beyond Mostar, and back the same evening

Groups of five to eight ride to Mostar for €300 in a minivan. Međugorje, 128 km away, costs €215; Sarajevo, 272 km and 4¾–5 hours via Mostar, €400. Riding back that day? Both legs together cost twice the one-way fare, and the Car Dubrovnik office fixes when your driver collects you.

## Half an hour to 2¼ hours: Cavtat, Ston, Orebić

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#coast>

Short roads

Cavtat is 25–35 minutes from town for €50, or 10–15 minutes from the airport for €35. Ston and its walls take 1–1¼ hours, €130; Orebić, where Korčula ferries leave, 2–2¼ hours along Pelješac, €200. Trsteno’s arboretum, 25 km up the coast, is priced on request; Car Dubrovnik fares are for a standard car.

-   ### 10–15 minutes: Cavtat from DBV

    6 km from the terminal, against 19 km from town.

- ### 15–20 minutes: Mlini, Srebreno or Plat from DBV

    10 km, in Župa dubrovačka, a municipality of its own east of town: €35 per car.

-   ### 25–35 minutes: Cavtat from town

    19 km. Travelling light? [Libertas](https://libertasdubrovnik.hr/en/price-list) line 10 makes that trip daily, €4 (14 October 2026) one way.

-   ### Trsteno’s arboretum, on request

    25 km west, where HAZU, Croatia’s Academy of Sciences and Arts, keeps a 28-hectare arboretum, protected since 1948. It has no row on our fare list, so the Car Dubrovnik office prices it when you ask.

-   ### 1–1¼ hours: Ston

    55 km. Walls begun in 1333 once ran for about 7 km with 41 towers; Mali Ston Bay below is a protected marine reserve.

-   ### 2–2¼ hours: Orebić

    110 km, out along Pelješac. Rides end there, and ferries cross to Korčula.

-   ### 2¾–3¼ hours (about three): Makarska

    160 km, past Pelješac Bridge towards Split, €250 ([Split route](https://cardubrovnik.com/#split-by-car)).

Minivan, business-car and V-Class fares for each of these sit in the [fare table](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pricing). Staying a week in Cavtat or Župa? Libertas buses link both with town between rides.

## Plan the stops yourself: hourly from €50, 300 km in eight hours

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#driver-hire>

Three hours or more

Hourly hire starts at three hours, €50 an hour in a standard car; four hours cost €190 and eight cost €360, with 300 km included. You set the stops and their order, for instance wine on Pelješac, or Ston’s walls and Trsteno in one day. Larger vehicles cost more; every rate is in the Car Dubrovnik fare table.

### Wine on Pelješac, mapped out

Ston lies 55 km from town and Orebić 110 km, so a loop out to Pelješac vineyards and back fits inside those 300 km. Dingač, a protected wine name for red Plavac mali, comes from steep southern slopes on this peninsula. List wineries in a rough order when you book, and say whether lunch belongs in it: with nobody in your group behind a wheel, everyone can join each tasting.

### Ston’s walls and Trsteno together

Trsteno’s arboretum sits 25 km up the coast and Ston 55 km, both on one road north-west, so a single day can take in HAZU’s gardens and walls begun in 1333. Four hours suit one of them; eight leave room for both.

### Rates by vehicle, and days abroad

A minivan runs €60 an hour or €450 for eight; business-car and V-Class rates sit in the [fare table](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pricing). If your plan could run long, say so when booking, so extra time is priced first. A day in Kotor or Mostar works on these hours too: the driver waits while you look around, and time past eight hours runs at the hourly rate, only once you agree. Or book the day as two rides at listed fares ([Kotor](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car), [Mostar](https://cardubrovnik.com/#mostar-by-car)).

Three hours at least: list your stops in order and the office prices the day.

## Count the suitcases first, then the seats

What rides with you

Four adults with four large cases outgrow a standard car, which holds three, and fit the V-Class, which holds seven: count cases before people. Groups of five to eight take the minivan, a case each. Children’s seats are free with Car Dubrovnik; tell the office each child’s height.

The standard-car photos show Car Dubrovnik’s own Volkswagen Caddy Maxi; the other sizes show a typical model, and the one sent may be another model of that class.

The business car suits a couple or a work trip with light luggage: it seats four, like the standard car, but takes only 2 large cases. Groups larger than eight travel in two vehicles, each priced on its own.

For five to eight people, one minivan costs less than two standard cars on every listed route: from DBV into town, €65 against twice €50.

### Seats for children, by height

Croatian law sets the rule by height, not age. Below 150 cm a child needs a seat or booster that fits; from 135 cm an adult belt is allowed on a back seat; a rear-facing seat never goes where a front airbag is live ([Road Traffic Safety Act](https://www.zakon.hr/z/78/zakon-o-sigurnosti-prometa-na-cestama), article 163). Seats cost nothing.

Tell the office how many cases you carry and each child's height.

## What to tell the office so your driver can find you

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#pickup-spots>

Before pick-up

Tell the Car Dubrovnik office an address, a ship’s name or a flight number. Hotel and flat guests are met at a door a car can reach, with 15 minutes’ grace; cruise guests at a named Gruž port gate; flights in Building B at DBV. Old Town rooms get a stop outside its walls.

  ![A black minivan parked beside a hotel's entrance canopy on the Lapad peninsula in Dubrovnik](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/lapad-hotel-entrance-minivan.jpg)

-     ![The Caddy waiting outside a stone-clad building for a pick-up](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/own-caddy-hotel-entrance.jpg)

    ### A hotel anywhere in town

    Its name and street, in Lapad, Babin Kuk or elsewhere. Be at the entrance on time: waiting ends 15 minutes after the time set.

- ![The Caddy parked on a hillside street in Dubrovnik](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/own-caddy-hillside-street.jpg)

    ### A private flat or villa

    A full address, a photo of its entrance and a phone number that works on the day. A picture helps a driver pick the right door.

- ![The Caddy on a coastal road above the open sea and a row of islets](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/own-caddy-coast-road.jpg)

    ### East of town: Cavtat and Župa

    An address, as for any hotel. Cavtat lies 6 km from DBV’s terminal, and Mlini, Srebreno or Plat in Župa dubrovačka about 10 km, so rides from arrivals there are short.

- ![The Caddy with its sliding door open, ready for luggage](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/own-caddy-door-open.jpg)

    ### A flight into DBV

    Its number. Delays move your pick-up with the plane, and 60 minutes of waiting count from touchdown ([landing, step by step](https://cardubrovnik.com/#airport-arrival)).

- ![The Caddy at golden hour by the port gate at Gruž](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/own-caddy-gruz-golden-hour.jpg)

    ### A ship or ferry at Gruž

    Its name, its arrival time and how many cases you carry. Road vehicles working inside the port’s restricted area need Port Authority permits, so expect a walk to that named gate; cruise lines disembark to a timetable the port sets with the City.

- ![The Caddy in the car park beside Dubrovnik's city walls](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/own-caddy-city-walls.jpg)

    ### Rooms within the walls

    The room’s address, so the office can name a stop outside them and say how far bags travel ([Old Town walks](https://cardubrovnik.com/#old-town-by-car)).

**Plans change?** Moving a meeting place costs nothing until 24 hours before pick-up; if a new spot lengthens the route, its price is set and accepted first. Booking itself is one message ([how booking works](https://cardubrovnik.com/#book)).

## Old Town stays: how far the bags travel on foot

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#old-town-by-car>

Inside the walls

Rooms inside the walls are reached on foot, and the walk depends on where the car may stop. As a guide, Pile Gate is about 700 m from the Ilijina glavica lights, where the camera zone of 1 April–31 October begins: some 9 minutes without luggage, longer with cases. The Car Dubrovnik office names your stop.

  ![A narrow stepped lane between stone houses inside Dubrovnik's walls, sloping down towards a busy street](https://cardubrovnik.com/images/content/old-town-stepped-lane.jpg)

City Council decisions draw that zone around the old city, from those lights at its entrance along Zagrebačka as far as Viktorija. Passes are electronic, linked to number plates; cameras logged 4,159 vehicles in breach during April 2026 alone. No daily hours are published, so count on it all day in season. Off-season, Dubrovnik’s Mayor may still switch it on for holidays, events or heavy cruise days.

### Arrival day and departure day

Where you get out depends on vehicle and date, so send your room’s address when booking. Inbound, you step out at the point the office names; outbound, you meet at one named likewise, where pick-ups away from DBV include 15 minutes’ waiting past an agreed time. Leave early enough to arrive, bags in hand ([every meeting point](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pickup-spots)). Within those walls, lanes belong to people on foot all year, and the walk from gate to gate along Stradun is roughly 550 m, again as a guide: wheeled cases slow that last stretch.

Old Town rooms are reached on foot, so pack bags you can carry.

### City slots for our minivans

A Car Dubrovnik minivan (up to 8 passengers) counts as an 8+1 vehicle and our V-Class (up to 7) as a 7+1, so either may book ten-minute slots through Dubrovnik’s Bus Web Shop, at set-down bays by Pile or Ploče. Each set-down costs €35 between 1 March and 30 November, nothing overnight (21:00–07:00 May–September, 20:00–08:00 in March–April or October–November) and nothing in December–February; a pick-up later that day is free once that van’s set-down is paid. Whether your ride uses a slot is settled in advance. Decisions and a help line are on Dubrovnik’s [zone page](https://www.dubrovnik.hr/zona-posebnog-prometnog-rezima).

## Dubrovnik Airport to the Old Town: €10 a seat, Bolt's €45.30 estimate, €50 booked

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#taxi-apps>

Prices seen on 14 October 2026

Platanus shuttles charge €10 a seat to Ploče Gate, then Gruž. Bolt’s page estimated €45.30 for this run on 14 October 2026; Uber quotes only in its app. A booked Car Dubrovnik standard car costs €50 to a hotel door, or outside the walls for Old Town rooms. Metered taxis face national caps from 1 January 2027.

**Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) to the Old Town, priced on 14 October 2026**

| Way in | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Platanus shuttle (a seat; Ploče Gate, then Gruž) | €10 |
| Bolt, standard car (its own estimate, one to four riders) | €45.30 |
| Metered taxi from 2027 (legal ceiling over DBV's 22.5 km in 30 minutes) | about €81 |
| Car with a driver (booked, up to four people) | €50 |
| Minivan with a driver (booked, five to eight people) | €65 |

### What a meter may charge from 2027

[Narodne novine 111/2026](https://narodne-novine.nn.hr/clanci/sluzbeni/2026_09_111_1318.html) sets national caps from 1 January 2027, indexed to inflation every year: a €10 start, €2.50 a kilometre and €0.50 for each minute driven or spent waiting, 40% more for vehicles seating seven or more besides their driver. Over DBV’s 22.5 km in half an hour, that tops out near €81; slow traffic lifts it. Until then every operator writes its own tariff, so ask before setting off, or read its price list at Building B’s taxi information window.

### Ride apps and Libertas lines

Bolt says it serves DBV, marking pick-up points in its app; that figure on [Bolt’s Dubrovnik page](https://bolt.eu/en/cities/dubrovnik/) is an estimate, not a fare, and moves with traffic. Uber claims round-the-clock service here and quotes inside its app only. Since July 2026, Croatian law makes apps show a maximum price and route before boarding, with platforms given until January 2027 to comply; from 2027, an accepted price cannot rise. Libertas city lines 11, 27 and 38 also call at DBV, though not every day ([DBV’s travel page](https://www.dbv.hr/en/getting-to-dbv/54)).

[Platanus](https://platanus.hr/dubrovnik-airport-shuttle/) also sells returns, at €15, and each ticket covers one suitcase. Car Dubrovnik prices a ride per vehicle in advance, and its driver meets you in arrivals. Taxis registered at DBV may drive into a camera zone round the walls; Car Dubrovnik cars stop outside them, at a point its office names ([Old Town arrivals](https://cardubrovnik.com/#old-town-by-car)). Landing step by step: [plane to car](https://cardubrovnik.com/#airport-arrival).

## When the roads fill: hotel nights, boat seasons, the airport run

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#best-time>

The calendar

DBV tells summer arrivals that the drive into town can take an hour, against 30–35 minutes at other times. Boats follow the season too: [Krilo’s](https://krilo.hr/en/destinations/dubrovnik) and [TP Line’s](https://www.tp-line.hr/) Split catamarans sailed from 1 April to 31 October in 2026. Hotel nights peak in August, at 771,130 in 2025 against 25,835 in January, counted in commercial accommodation.

**Month by month: weather and visitor nights**

| Month | Mean temperature | Sunshine | Rain days | Tourist nights 2025 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| January | 9.2 °C | 131 h | 12 | 25,835 |
| February | 9.6 °C | 143 h | 11 | 36,771 |
| March | 11.5 °C | 181 h | 11 | 79,366 |
| April | 14.5 °C | 215 h | 11 | 350,539 |
| May | 18.7 °C | 271 h | 10 | 496,186 |
| June | 22.7 °C | 309 h | 7 | 615,110 |
| July | 25.3 °C | 351 h | 4 | 755,287 |
| August | 25.4 °C | 333 h | 5 | 771,130 |
| September | 21.9 °C | 255 h | 7 | 569,123 |
| October | 18.0 °C | 202 h | 10 | 386,000 |
| November | 14.1 °C | 132 h | 13 | 71,315 |
| December | 10.6 °C | 120 h | 13 | 47,507 |

Averages 1961–2024 (DHMZ). Nights in commercial accommodation, 2025 (DZS).

May to October averages 18–25 °C with ten rain days or fewer a month; November to March brings 11 to 13 ([DHMZ](https://meteo.hr/klima_e.php?section=klima_podaci&param=k1&Grad=dubrovnik)). July and August also average 11 and 13 days of 30 °C or more.

June to September held almost two thirds of 2025’s 4.2 million tourist nights in the city ([DZS](https://podaci.dzs.hr/media/ctwkrcot/tur-2025-1-2-dolasci-i-no%C4%87enja-turista-u-komercijalnom-smje%C5%A1taju-u-2025.pdf)). Cruise calls bunch in those months as well: July to September carried 48% of Croatia’s foreign cruise trips in 2025, a year in which this port led all others at 557 foreign cruise-ship visits. The Summer Festival ran from 10 July to 25 August in 2026; its 2027 dates come with the programme in February 2027.

### Crossings through the year

No official body publishes seasonal waiting figures for the Montenegro or Bosnia crossings. [HAK’s road page](https://www.hak.hr/info/stanje-na-cestama?lang=en) shows live times at some of them, and a first road entry under the EES takes longer for travellers who must enrol, because they step out of the car to do it.

Outside the catamaran season, compare a coach with a car and driver for a trip north ([Split by car](https://cardubrovnik.com/#split-by-car)).

## Booking by message: road, date, time, people and bags

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#book>

One message

Write one message with road, date, pick-up time, people and bags, for example: ‘Split, 14 June, 09:00 from Lapad, four people, five cases, a stop in Ston.’ Car Dubrovnik replies in writing with a vehicle, a meeting point, a price and how to pay; once you accept, its written confirmation books the ride.

1. **Write one message.** Add what the office cannot guess: a flight number when a ride starts at DBV, a ship’s name for Gruž, a hotel or flat address, and each child’s age and height when seats are needed. Prams, golf bags and bike boxes go in the message with the cases.
2. **Accept the written reply.** Check the vehicle size, the meeting point and the price it names, then answer it.
3. **Ride on the day.** At DBV, in Building B’s arrivals hall; anywhere else, at the meeting point in that reply, outside the walls for Old Town rooms.

Cancelling costs nothing until 24 hours before pick-up, and neither does a new date or time; the [cancellation page](https://cardubrovnik.com/cancellation/) sets out every rule.

Your ride is booked once the office confirms it in writing.

## Three checks to make before booking any ride

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#guest-reviews>

Before you trust a review

Before booking any ride, check three things: the company behind Car Dubrovnik in Croatia’s court register, by MBS or OIB; the date on the price list these fares come from; and the office’s written confirmation of your ride. Guest reviews will appear here only from public platforms, linked in full with their date.

**Register:** both numbers and a link to the court’s search page are under [the firm behind it](https://cardubrovnik.com/#operator).

**Date:** fares on this page follow the price list of 12 October 2026, as the [fare table](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pricing) states.

**Confirmation:** a ride counts as booked once the office confirms it in writing, on WhatsApp or by text ([booking by message](https://cardubrovnik.com/#book)).

## Road questions, each answered with a number, a date or a rule

<https://cardubrovnik.com/#faq>

Asked about the roads

Sixteen questions, in page order: fares and airport arrivals first, then three long roads, vehicle sizes, pick-ups, Old Town walks, taxis and seasons. Each answer gives a figure, a date or a rule, then links to its section. For example, Dubrovnik to Split takes 3¼–3¾ hours via Pelješac Bridge, nearer five through Makarska.

**Why is Cavtat cheaper from DBV than from town?**

It is a shorter ride. Cavtat lies 6 km out of DBV, 10–15 minutes away, at €35; town lies 19 km off, 25–35 minutes, at €50. Mlini, Srebreno and Plat follow that pattern, at €35 out of DBV. A fare buys a whole vehicle, whoever rides in it. [Full fare table](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pricing).

**Our suitcase is lost at DBV: does our ride wait?**

Yes, within its included time. Its 60 minutes of waiting start when a plane actually lands, and a lost-luggage report might use up much of them. Message Car Dubrovnik on WhatsApp as soon as you know, quoting a flight number. If that report runs past an hour, office staff say how long a driver stays. [Plane to car](https://cardubrovnik.com/#airport-arrival).

**Dubrovnik to Split over the bridge or via Makarska: how many hours?**

Via Pelješac Bridge, then motorway A1, 235 km take 3¼–3¾ hours to drive. Road D8 through Makarska is shorter, about 226 km, yet slower: close to 4 hours 50 minutes. A €330 standard-car fare covers that fast road; office staff price D8 separately, confirming it in advance. Makarska itself is a listed ride at €250. [Split by car](https://cardubrovnik.com/#split-by-car).

**Can a Split ride end at Split Airport for a flight home?**

Yes. Split Airport is a listed end point, 247 km and 3½–4 hours out of Dubrovnik, priced like Split itself: €330 by standard car or €420 by minivan. Its road never leaves Croatia, so no border stop eats into flight timing. Count back from check-in time, leaving room for summer traffic, when choosing a pick-up hour. [Split by car](https://cardubrovnik.com/#split-by-car).

**Dubrovnik to Kotor: is an EU identity card enough for Montenegro?**

Yes, up to 30 days: Montenegro admits EU citizens on a valid identity card that long, or 90 days on a passport. UK or US travellers need a passport, giving 90 days without a visa if issued within ten years and valid three months past departure. Papers are checked at Karasovići. [Kotor and its border](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car).

**Kotor via the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry: does it save time?**

About a quarter of an hour, before any queue. Crossing Kamenari to Lepetane cuts a 92 km drive round Kotor Bay to roughly 80 km, skipping Risan and Perast. Boats run every 20 minutes, 06:00 until midnight, then at least hourly; a long line at Kamenari might wipe out that gain, so drivers choose on arrival. [Kotor and its border](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car).

**On a day trip abroad, who gets fingerprinted at Croatia’s border?**

Most travellers without EU citizenship. Since 10 April 2026, EU Entry/Exit System checks have recorded them at Croatia’s international crossings: four fingerprints plus a face photo at first entry, only a photo of children under 12, no fee. EU citizens are exempt. On a day out to Kotor or Mostar, every crossing is logged; anyone enrolling a first time must step out to do so. [Kotor and its border](https://cardubrovnik.com/#kotor-by-car).

**Which crossing does a Mostar ride use, and is it open at night?**

Metković on Croatia’s side, Doljani on Bosnia’s: a crossing kept for passenger traffic since lorries moved to Nova Sela. Bosnia and Herzegovina lists Doljani as open 0–24 hours, so late rides cross there too. EU citizens may enter on an identity card; UK visitors need a passport. **Four adults with four big suitcases: which vehicle?**

Not a standard car, which takes three large cases, nor a business car, which takes two. A V-Class seats up to seven and carries seven large cases, so four adults and four cases fit easily. Minivans suit groups of five to eight people, holding eight large cases. [Vehicle sizes](https://cardubrovnik.com/#fleet).

**From what height may a child use an adult seat belt?**

From 135 cm, then only on a back seat. Croatian law otherwise puts every child under 150 cm in a seat or booster suited to their size, never in a rear-facing seat where a front airbag is active. Seats come at no charge; put each child’s height in the booking message. [Seats for children](https://cardubrovnik.com/#fleet).

**Arriving by cruise ship at Gruž: where do we find our driver?**

At a port gate Car Dubrovnik names in writing, once you send a ship’s name and docking day. Vehicles working inside Gruž’s restricted port area need a Port Authority permit, so expect a walk, bags in hand, from ship to gate. Port Authority staff coordinate disembarkation times with City officials, Dubrovnik’s Tourist Board, Libertas and an appointed shore-excursion agency. [Pick-up details](https://cardubrovnik.com/#pickup-spots).

**Why do cars stop short of the walls from April to October?**

Every year, 1 April–31 October, a camera-watched traffic zone rings the Old Town walls, Ilijina glavica to Viktorija; only vehicles cleared by City authorities may drive in. Lanes inside stay pedestrian all year, while Dubrovnik’s Mayor may switch that zone on out of season. Office staff name a stop outside its walls. [Old Town stays](https://cardubrovnik.com/#old-town-by-car).

**Can our minivan set us down at Pile or Ploče?**

City rules allow it, given a booked slot. Vans of 7+1 or 8+1 seats may stop in drop-off bays at Pile or Ploče once a slot is booked through Dubrovnik’s Bus Web Shop. A drop-off costs €35 between 1 March and 30 November, except overnight: 21:00–07:00 in May–September, 20:00–08:00 in its other months. Whether a ride uses a slot is settled in advance. **Two of us with cabin bags: is the airport bus enough?**

Often, yes. Platanus shuttles cost €10 a seat one way or €15 return, one suitcase per ticket included, leaving about half an hour after every landing. They stop once in town, at Ploče Gate, then end at Gruž bus station. Two seats at €10 cost less than a booked car at €50; a private ride pays off when a bed lies far from both stops. [Three airport prices](https://cardubrovnik.com/#taxi-apps).

**What may a metered taxi charge from DBV once 2027 caps apply?**

No more than €10 as a starting charge, then €2.50 a kilometre plus €0.50 a minute, under national caps applying from 1 January 2027. On DBV’s own figures, 22.5 km into town in about 30 minutes, that ceiling comes to about €81: a maximum, not a typical fare. Until then, every taxi carrier sets its own tariff. [Three airport prices](https://cardubrovnik.com/#taxi-apps).

**How much longer is an airport run in July and August?**

Up to twice as long. Dubrovnik Airport puts its drive into town at 30–35 minutes on average, telling summer arrivals to allow up to an hour. High summer fills Dubrovnik most: August 2025 counted 771,130 tourist nights in commercial accommodation, July 755,287, against 25,835 in January.
